Meta Check

Rob and Joe discuss the current meta, brought to us by Lloyd Christmas and Blue Bomber!

For this meta check, we have something truly special. Blue Bomber, brings us a CCGS Finals Meta Check – just to see what the Pros at the tippy top of the ladder are using and the numbers are amazing!

Disclosure: take everything with a grain of salt since not all players played all 8 cards, so we don’t know what they were.

He takes us through the following themes:

  • The most used cards!
  • Pro’s hate the pump!
  • Is goblin hut Meta?
  • Some surprising additions!
  • Not much love for siege decks (RIP Mortar)
  • Miner dominates win conditions!

Deck Spotlight

SergioRamos:) (3.5 AEC)

Cards: Minions, Bandit, Miner, Goblins, Zap, Poison, Pekka, EWiz

Copy to Deck

Decksplanation: This deck is a miner control deck at the core. The deck is only 3.5 cost because of the big mama Pekka that sits in it. During the CCGS finals, SerioRamos:) used this deck as a gem, and the one that ultimately allowed him to win $150,000.

Be sure NOT to use the Pekka until either 1) you need to on defense to counter something big, or 2) during double elixir time. If you wait until the end to play the card, the deck itself will play extremely fast and will be tough for your opponent to keep up with. EWiz should be used on defense to stop goblin gang, or to stun incoming threats. This can be coupled will with the minions or goblins. Minions/goblins can be used to counter push when combined with the miner. Be sure to make your Miner placement unpredictable. Switching up the placement on your opponent’s towers will make it very difficult for them to stop your miner from connecting to their tower.

Poison can be used to assist your miner push, and kill defensive troops. Otherwise, this card should be used to defend vs. things like graveyards. Miner/Poison are a great combination to take out pumps/defensive troops from your opponent. Bandit should be used to keep your opponent off their toes, and on their back foot. Bandit can switch lanes to bait out your opponents log, or tanky troop. Save zap for your opponent’s inferno tower – especially when you’re using your big mama Pekka to go not he offensive push.

Who knows – play the deck well enough and you could become just like SergioRamos:) and win $150,000 – but no pressure. Boom!

None this week 🙁
